Obama’s denial of jihad threat costs lives

Shush, no mentioning Islam or jihad now…

Shush, no mentioning Islam or jihad now…

Back in 2011, the US Department of Justice, through the Deputy Attorney General, said this:

The Department of Justice takes seriously its role in protecting the country from terrorist threats. And the Department also takes seriously it role in enforcing the laws that protect people against discrimination. Soon after 9/11, President Bush made clear to the nation that these terrorist acts were committed by individuals who distort the peaceful religion of Islam, and that Arab-Americans and Muslim Americans suffered with all Americans when our nation was attacked. In the aftermath of 9/11, the Civil Rights Division – led by then Assistant Attorney General Ralph Boyd, who will be addressing the conference shortly – established an initiative to combat discrimination occurring in misguided retaliation for the attack. That initiative continues today.

We also are working comprehensively to ensure that every aspect of the Department’s work reflects sensitivity and respect for all peoples and faiths. As just one example, to that end, I recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security, to make sure they reflect that sensitivity.

If that isn’t clear enough, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, Dwight C. Holton went further, and said this:

“I want to be perfectly clear about this: training materials that portray Islam as a religion of violence or with a tendency towards violence are wrong, they are offensive, and they are contrary to everything that this president, this attorney general and Department of Justice stands for,” Holton said. “They will not be tolerated.”

The training materials, Holton said, “pose a significant threat to national security, because they play into the false narrative propagated by terrorists that the United States is at war with Islam.”

National security agencies were no longer being trained to recognise the signs of jihad, since the narrative required that Islam be regarded as a religion of peace and that any terrorist atrocity must therefore be attributed to some other motive.

Fast forward to December 2015, and Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people and injured 22 in San Bernardino, California. They had hoped to murder many more, but the pipe bombs they left for first responders to the shooting failed to detonate.

They had been vetted by several US agencies, none of whom were allowed to consider the possibility of Islam being a motive, since all references to it and jihad violence had been thoroughly expunged from the FBI training materials, on the order of Eric Holder and Obama.

When it became obvious that this pair were jihad through and through, the Obama administration tried to suppress the link, because it so clearly contradicted the carefully constructed, but entirely phoney, narrative of Islam as a peaceful religion:

On the day of the deadly San Bernardino, Calif. massacre, President Obama ignored FBI-procured evidence that the attack was an Islamic terrorist operation and ordered federal officials to mislead the public about the true nature of the assault.

Although the FBI knew immediately on Dec. 2 that the mass-casualty event was a Muslim terrorist attack, Obama and FBI Director James Comey reportedly clashed over why Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik opened fire around 11 a.m. local time on Farook’s municipal government workmates, leaving 14 dead and 21 wounded.

The news comes as investigator Phil Haney, who helped to create the Department of Homeland Security, revealed on Fox News that the government shut down a database he created that might have helped to prevent the attack. Haney says he looked into groups that had ties to Farook and Malik as far back as 2012. But civil rights officials accused him of unfairly profiling Muslims, removed his security clearance, and destroyed the data he collected.

And as we already know, neighbours of the pair were afraid to report suspicious activity because they feared being labelled racists.

This attitude is suicidal. Failure to acknowledge the existence of jihad violence, and the active concealment of that threat, is killing Americans.
