VIDEO: Is the Islamic State Islamic?

Should we believe Western leaders who say the Islamic State is nothing to do with Islam, or should we instead believe its leader, who has a PhD in Islamic Theology?

Also, meet Abdul, Usman and Ibrahim, our three hapless IS operatives, desperately looking for a name for the organisation…

Speaking evil of the gods has always been a hazardous occupation. Socrates was executed (chose suicide) for not believing in the gods of the state in 399BC. He was not the first and won’t be the last. Throughout history political leaders from Constantine (the first Christian emperor of the Roman Empire) to John Howard (‘there is no force which is greater… than…the Christian religion’) have partnered with religion to legitimize their claims to power and hold sway over the hoi polloi. In the pseudo theocracy that has become the West, the ideology of Islam is not to be conquered (as Bishop has said ‘we are not at war with Islam’) so it is to be absorbed-the same way Christianity absorbed aspects of Egyptian, Greek and Roman religions before it.

Trueatheist, Islam has been going for most of the time that Christianity has. Why not cite examples of its absorption qualities instead? Islam doesn’t even get along with itself.

By the way, I’m an atheist too – but perhaps not one you would regard as a ‘true’. My atheism travels light, without the faith of the progressives.

Funny how other religions don’t require the constant religion-of-peace apologetics. Probably because they are peaceful.
