The inevitable ‘backlash’

Muslims usual response to atrocities...

Muslims usual response to atrocities…

Never passing up the opportunity to play the victim, Islamic groups are treading a very well-worn path: an atrocity carried out in the name of Islam is then followed by anguished claims that there will be a ‘backlash’ against Muslims:

MUSLIM leaders in Australia condemned the beheading of American journalist James Foley amid fears it will spark a backlash against local Muslim communities.

“These guys are lunatics,” said Dr Ameer Ali, former chairman of the Federation of Islamic Councils.

That’s the point, they aren’t lunatics. They are clearly well versed in the teachings of the Qur’an, and are following Muhammad’s example of the ‘perfect’ Muslim.

The video was posted on YouTube showing the journalist kneeling on the ground with his hands tied behind his back. A black-clad Islamic State executioner is then seen cutting off his head.

“They are talking about a caliphate but really they are just a medieval, barbaric group who have nothing to do with Islam,” said Dr Ali.

Nothing to do with Islam? Really? Do you really think we are that stupid? We may be filthy kafir, but we do have some brain cells. These guys really couldn’t lie straight in bed. Rather than condemn the medieval ideology which incites such actions, they claim that it is just the work of a few ‘lunatics’.

And here comes the inevitable punchline:

“This is going to create problems for Muslims in Australia. I would like the imams to come out openly and condemn this group before the cameras and in their sermons.”

What, you really need to ask?? And the Grand Mufti adds to the taqiyya when he said:

“It is utterly deplorable for extremists to use Islam as a cover for their crimes and atrocities. Their misguided actions do not represent the overwhelming majority of Muslims who emulate the pure teachings of Islam such as justice, mercy and freedom.

Justice, mercy and freedom indeed – carefully omitting the usual caveat: just as soon as the whole world is Islamic, governed by sharia law, and we all submit to the will of Allah. Go back to sleep infidel, nothing to see here…

Islamic community leader Dr Jamal Rifi said: “I picked up my iPad this morning and read there had been a beheading and thought ‘oh no, not again’. (source)

Yep, and it will happen again. And again. And again.

From their actions there is a backlash against all Muslims, but none of their actions or ideology are Islamic. Muslims in Australia are absolutely horrified by this.

Really? How come they continue to use Islamic texts and historical examples to justify their actions?

Actions like this will continue until Islamic leaders like you and Ameer Ali and Ibrahim Abu Mohamed stop pretending that this has ‘nothing to do with Islam’ and start addressing the real problem: the violent and barbaric teachings of Muhammad and the Qur’an.

If the rest of us could see that ‘moderate’ Muslims in Australia were as appalled by these actions as we are, then maybe there wouldn’t be a backlash.

But all we get is… [tumbleweed].

  1. I found this interesting comment by they Eldest Son of one of the Leaders and founding members of Hamas in his book rather interesting:

“Islamic life is like a ladder, with prayer and praising Allah as the bottom rung. The higher rungs represent helping the poor and needy, establishing schools, and supporting charities. The highest rung is jihad.

The ladder is tall. Few look up to see what is at the top. And progress is usually gradual, almost imperceptible – like a barn cat stalking a swallow. The swallow never takes its eyes off the cat. It just stands there, watching the cat pace back and forth, back and forth. But the swallow does not judge depth. It does not see that the cat is getting a little bit closer with every pass until, in the blink of an eye, the cat’s claws are stained with the swallow’s blood.

Traditional Muslims stand at the foot of the ladder, living in guilt for not really practicing Islam. At the top are the fundamentalists, the ones you see in the new killing women and children for the glory of the god of the Qur’an. Moderates are somewhere in between.

A moderate Muslim is actually more dangerous than a fundamentalist, however, because he appears to be harmless, and you can never tell when he has taken that next step toward the top. Most suicide bombers began as moderates.”
